2011 and has quickly established itself as an innovative leader within its particular market.
Winning two prestigious awards at the 2013 ‘220 Triathlon Awards’ for wetsuit brand of the
year and innovative product of the year for their flagship Archimedes wetsuit. Huub have a
burgeoning reputation for quality and innovative effective products which results from their
design and production process founded on the principles: research, science, reality.
Triathletes as a demographic are numerous – worldwide participation can easily be justified at
4m+, affluent – average salaries in the UK are £45k and in the USA are $126k, competitive,
and willing to invest in equipment which will help them to shave seconds from a personal best
time. Historically the bike section of the sport is that which has benefitted from technology.
Through the completion of this proposed development of prototype project Huub intend to
ensure that the swim is seen as an area where technology can be invested in to return
performance gains.
Wetsuit promotional literature is littered with references to technology that adds performance,
with no quantified evidence provided. As a result of this project Huub will develop an in
water system which allows quantified gains from wetsuit use to be measured and evidenced.
Alongside this development; Huub will work with internal swimming bio-mechanic experts
and external world leading swim stroke analysts SwimSmooth to develop suit incorporations
which aid the development and delivery of a superior and faster swim stroke. Finally, 3D
body scanning technology will be utilised along with licensed software which allows for
images to be flattened into pattern panels for the production of a system which provides suits
that fit each athlete, to perfection. Thus creating a wetsuit service without equivalent to the
industry through the delivery of science, research, to reality.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
