It is seeking Fast Start: Innovation funding to develop and launch The Personalised Reproductive Care Companion (PRCC).

Fertility, pregnancy and managing the first months post-birth are challenging and stressful times in many women's lives. They are also likely to be the times when women most need the support of the health service and also seek out additional care, such as lactation consultants, or mental health support. Although NHS provision is often outstanding, there are times when, particularly since COVID, women can need more help. The Oxford University 'You and Your Baby 2020' study found satisfaction with post-natal care fell to 53% (from 77% pre-pandemic).

Public Health England's new Women's Health Strategy (published July 2022) reveals that confidence in women's healthcare has been seriously eroded and sets out a ten year plan to address this. Right now, women are struggling to afford the add-on care they need and facing a postcode lottery which means where you live can matter more than clinical need.

At the heart of the Personalised Reproductive Care Companion (PRCC) will be an innovative AI, built with health care experts and delivered through an affordable subscription service.

The PRCC will use cutting edge AI technology to guide women onto a care pathway which will address their unique challenges. The AI will be optimised by medical experts before the project launches and then continually fed data throughout. All of this data will teach the AI to look for patterns such as risk factors for poor health outcomes, enabling it to recommend the best care pathways for each individual.

The PRCC will be equipped to advise and support on issues affecting women's mental and physical health, such as infertility, dealing with a traumatic birth or pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain. The project uses digital delivery including live chat, tele-medicine and group sessions, enabling women to access expert medical care in a way which works for them, whether it needs to fit around meetings or nap times.

The PRCC will allow women to take control of their own health and help them to make the best decisions through a phase of life that can feel overwhelming. It will take the provision of health care for women in a new direction and offer an exciting model for how AI can support the work of mitigating risk during complex medical situations.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
