The risk of skin cancer is directly related to overexposure to ultra violet radiation in sunlight, which results in damage to cellular DNA.

A platform called PARASOL based on open data access to meteorological observation to the sun UV index is in development and would be released soon.
The public will be able to use a mobile application which alerts its users to sun dangers when they are out and about.
An intelligent mobile interface providing advice taking into account differences of the skin type, genetic heritage, age group, gender, current heath condition and so on. All this additional information provided by the user him/herself contribute to a personalised skin cancer risk profile.
While the UV index is public open data PARASOL will keep the personal profile private to protect the privacy of the end user. However if the customer would like to release such data sets to a health professional for example he/she will be able to do so.

The mobile application is designed to be useful especially for those on holiday near the coast either in the UK or overseas.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
