They have been recording and selecting within their flock, but in a period where there has been a lot of scientific advance in this field, nothing in the recording system has changed. Working with the Moredun Foundation who are leaders in this field of research, they want to develop a blueprint for genetic progress in worm resistance and resilience, to allow them to more confidently and accurately select for improvement within their flock which will result in higher health and welfare standards and lower anthelmintic drug use. It is estimated that rams from this farm are bred to in excess of 20,000 ewes per year, making these benefits far reaching and significant. Additionally, systems put in place as a result of this project will be available to all UK sheep breeders through Signet.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
