We build products and services that meet our customers' diverse needs without compromise, and align our success with theirs: providing the designs, support and services to keep their products working brilliantly for as long as they choose.

The UK small appliances market is fundamentally unsustainable. Worth around &amp;pound;3.6Bn, 60 million small appliances are sold annually to a UK market with the world's second highest levels of e-waste per capita. Over 500,000 tonnes of small appliances are discarded each year, fewer than 30% are recycled and product repair and a secondary market is almost non-existent as existing &amp;quot;repairable&amp;quot; options are costly, slow to service, and not safely user-repairable. 

This project will assess the commercial feasibility of the product design, manufacturing strategy, service design and business model of a modular small kitchen appliance designed to enable safe and widely available repairs, as part of a sustainable and resource efficient circular business model incorporating UK manufacture, reuse and remanufacture. 

This project will build on a catapult project with the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), on work completed as part of the 'Innovate UK Design for Growth' (DFG) scheme and on independent product, business and service development. 

This feasibility study will combine expert insights, manufacturing analysis, real supplier cost data, and stakeholder feedback to produce a SWOT assessment of the current product, service, and business model. The findings will guide decisions on pursuing investment and development or revising the approach through further research or redesign.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
