It tackles two key challenges: improving the security of AI systems and using AI to enhance cybersecurity practices.

Through a suite of new free resources - including workshops, podcasts, online training, and consultancy - the project aims to educate and empower local businesses. These resources will help SMEs not only adopt AI-driven cybersecurity solutions but also understand and mitigate the risks associated with integrating AI into their business operations. This initiative builds upon the foundation laid by earlier successful programmes like _Cyber Foundry_ and _AI Foundry,_ as well as the ongoing work at the _Centre for Digital Innovation_. These programs have already contributed to advancing digital transformation in the region, and the **AI-Cybersecurity Nexus** project will further enhance business growth and foster innovation throughout Greater Manchester.

A key element of the project is its focus on inclusivity, aligning with the UK government's goal of increasing diversity in the STEM workforce by 2030 (_Diversity and Inclusion in STEM_, House of Commons, 2023). We are particularly focused on encouraging the participation of women in cybersecurity, highlighting role models and fostering a more diverse and inclusive cybersecurity ecosystem.

By combining practical training with strategic guidance, we will empower SMEs with the knowledge and tools they need to secure their digital environments and effectively navigate the evolving cybersecurity landscape. This project will help strengthen the cybersecurity resilience of SMEs in the region, enabling them to integrate AI-powered solutions confidently.

The practical outcomes of the project will not only benefit participating SMEs but will also have a lasting impact on the wider business community in **Greater Manchester**. Upon completion, all materials and insights generated will be made publicly available through a dedicated website and other distribution channels, ensuring continued access and support for SMEs in the future. This approach ensures that the benefits of the project extend far beyond its initial implementation, contributing to the long-term cybersecurity resilience of the region.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
