and manages a customer’s moles. Our self-monitoring system provides two distinct benefits.
Firstly, it acts as a trigger to improve mole monitoring and provides the quantifiable evidence
of a need to seek medical attention.
Secondly, the service provides this quantified change information to the users GP to create a
history of each lesion and their evolution. Neither benefit is currently available through any
existing technology for consumers.
We are able to provide these benefits through automated change detection provided by
patented image processing algorithms hosted in the cloud. Skin Analytics were fortunate
enough to be supported by the Technology Strategy Board to prove the capability and develop
the necessary image processing algorithms to enable this service.
Having built the change detection technology in the case of single lesion monitoring, we are
looking to again innovate by extending our analysis to cover Total Body Photography (TBP)
using a smartphone. TBP will enable Skin Analytics to map the entire users body and ensure
that all skin lesions are captured.
While we have proven the viability of a smartphone based automated change analysis system,
the medical effectiveness of our service will be significantly enhanced by capturing full body
scans using smartphones and extracting images of medical-grade quality automatically from
the video.
Based on our market research, the product is generating significant interest in both the
consumer and professional fields. We are seeking Technology Strategy Board support to
make the service more effective, accessible to a wider community and a benefit from a
simpler user experience.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
