Governments worldwide, including the UK, are committed to achieving net-zero emissions, with hydrogen playing a crucial role. However, the current methods of hydrogen production are hampered by high costs and environmental impacts. For instance, 99.3% of the 95 million tonnes of hydrogen produced annually comes from fossil fuels, contributing to over 900 million tonnes of CO2 emissions globally (International Energy Agency, 2023).

**Limitations of Current Solutions:**

Traditional green hydrogen production methods, particularly water electrolysis, are energy-intensive and inefficient. The majority of the total energy in these processes is consumed in producing low-value oxygen, a byproduct often vented into the atmosphere. Just to displace the current demand for hydrogen as an industrial gas would require more solar and wind energy than exists in the world today.

**Ki Hydrogen's Sustainable Solution:**

Ki Hydrogen is pioneering a transformative approach to hydrogen production. Our process, developed in the UK - a leader in this field, differs fundamentally from traditional methods. Instead of splitting water, we utilise a liquid biomass feedstock. This innovative approach allows us to produce green hydrogen, with up to 75% less energy. At the same time, we produce valuable green chemicals, efficiently harnessing renewable power and waste biomass.

**Our Vision and Progress:**

Envisioning a future where hydrogen is a key pillar of the global energy mix, Ki Hydrogen aims to be at the forefront of this transition. We are already making strides in commercialising our technology, having garnered support from climate-focused accelerators and industry partners. Our location in the UK's emerging hydrogen clusters positions us strategically to scale our technology, whilst being co-located with heavy industry that needs hydrogen to decarbonise, coupled to better waste management solutions.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
