Effective monitoring and feeding of cultures is crucial for consistent results.

In fermentation, bioreactors use sensors to monitor the culturing process and these sensors require thorough cleaning and sterilisation. Smaller culturing vessels lack these sensors and rely on manual monitoring, which is labour-intensive and less efficient. It also increases contamination risk and plastic waste which is not resource-efficient.

The industry is looking for affordable, easy-to-use technology for remote monitoring, especially important when lab access is limited, as during lockdowns. Current market solutions have limitations in functionality and have prohibitive costs. Despite their limitations, these devices are in high demand.

SAMASTAR aims to revolutionise the bioprocessing sector with affordable AI-powered automation technology, enabling precise culturing to overcome scale-up challenges in bioprocessing. This innovation aims to position the UK as a leader in advanced bioprocessing technology.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
