In this project Beat Blocks will create a first to market multi-sensory flooring system that builds on their modular, haptic floor tiles. This project will allow them time with an IP Lawyer to action recommendations made in an Innovate UK IP Audit and help the founder to overcome his access challenges with the complexity of IP.

Experience

We are building a modular haptic flooring systems providing a rich motif of vibrations and a new way of experiencing music at live events.

Noise Pollution

By translating sound into felt vibrations we reduce the requirement for using high volume bass, helping venues give customers the experience of being physically moved by music without damage to hearing or breaking noise level limitations.

Inclusion

D/deaf and Disabled people are often excluded from environments that use audio extensively, such as music venues.

Beat Blocks gives D/deaf people another sensory avenue with which to experience audio. Blind and visually impaired communities benefit from having enhanced additional sensory information - our design is informed by lived experience, intensive user testing and inclusion best practice. This system will cater to a range of accessibility requirements (not just deaf but sensory processing and hearing audiences) that are simple for venues and scaleable / modular to their needs.

The market is currently missing high powered, haptic, non wearable devices that translate a wide range of frequencies to users. We fill that gap with a powerful system that can move the entire body and fits within as many contexts as possible.

This project allows us to expand our multisensory floor system to meet new opportunities identified through support from Innovate UK EDGE.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
