Leveraging retired electric vehicle (EV) batteries and cutting-edge Digital Twins technology, we tackle the high costs and long payback periods that hinder the widespread adoption of clean energy solutions in underserved communities.

System integrators in Nigeria currently face payback periods of 8--10 years, with batteries comprising over 50% of the total energy system cost. By repurposing retired EV batteries, we reduce costs by 50%, cutting payback periods to 4--5 years. This makes energy-as-a-service models viable, enabling system integrators to offer affordable and scalable clean energy solutions. Flexible financing options, such as rental and lease-to-own models, further eliminate upfront capital barriers, accelerating market adoption.

**Key Innovations:**

1. **Second-Life Batteries:** Affordable batteries sourced by Cling Systems (Sweden) reduce e-waste and achieve a 50% reduction in carbon emissions compared to new battery production.
2. **Digital Twins Technology:** ThinkClock (UK) provides advanced real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance, ensuring battery reliability, safety, and extended lifespan.
3. **Circular Economy and Local Implementation:** Celloop (Nigeria) drives local battery pack assembly, market integration, and thermal management for second-life batteries, ensuring sustainability and efficiency.
4. **GESI-Focused Skills Development:** In collaboration with Decibels Lab (India) and Climate Emerge Innovation Development (CEID) Hub (Nigeria), we will train over 1,000 women and youth in battery assembly, recycling, and maintenance, fostering local entrepreneurship and inclusivity.

**Deliverables:**

1. Deploy 50 second-life battery systems across five system integrators, starting with So-Cool Solutions (Nigeria), within 12 months.
2. Establish two skills development labs in Nigeria to support local training and manufacturing.
3. Validate the business model and technology through demonstration projects and customer feedback.
4. Develop a carbon credit framework to further subsidize battery costs.

This project directly benefits underserved Nigerian communities by improving access to clean, reliable energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuel generators, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. It promotes economic growth by creating jobs across battery recycling, manufacturing, and maintenance while empowering marginalized groups through inclusive workforce development initiatives.

With its innovative technologies, socio-economic focus, and environmental benefits, this project serves as a replicable model for clean energy adoption in developing countries, driving a sustainable and equitable energy transition.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
