The project addresses the pressing need for improved safety standards in an industry that reported 565,000 accidents and 123 fatalities in 2021/22\. Traditional training methods have proven ineffective, necessitating innovative solutions. SafeSite is an AI-based health and safety training tool in virtual reality (VR), designed to complement Core Systems Software Ltd's CORE construction project management environment. This collaboration between Core Systems and V-LAB, two leading digital innovation companies, brings together expertise in VR technology and construction project management. Both companies have already been recognised as a finalist for the prestigious Innovation Award at the TeesTech Awards 2023\. By harnessing cutting-edge AI technology, SafeSite will introduce personalised and interactive health and safety training for offshore workers, aligning with the guidelines provided by the Health and Safety Executive and the Global Wind Organisation training standards. The project's ultimate goal is to enhance training effectiveness and accessibility, leading to a safer and more efficient offshore industry.

SafeSite incorporates several innovative features. An AI-based automated model creation process converts 3D scanned OBJ files into Building Information Modelling (BIM) models, improving accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, an AI-based training scenario generator creates customised health and safety training videos, instructions, and virtual exercises tailored to digital twins of specific offshore sites. Realism and interactivity are enhanced with an AI-generated voice of a training instructor powered by a chatbot and customisable avatars representing training participants, all within the immersive VR training environment. The collaborative efforts of Core Systems and V-LAB aim to transform safety training methods in the offshore construction industry. By leveraging AI and VR technologies, SafeSite not only improves worker safety but also increases business productivity. The project's impact extends beyond training, as it aligns with the UK government's goal of increasing offshore wind capacity to 40GW by 2030, contributing to the country's renewable energy objectives. SafeSite holds great promise in addressing the urgent need for improved safety standards in the offshore construction industry. By successfully developing and implementing this innovative training tool, we anticipate a significant positive impact on the well-being of offshore workers and the overall success of the industry. SafeSite is poised to set new standards in health and safety training, demonstrating the potential of AI and VR technologies in creating safer work environments.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
