The fact is, only 1% is recycled back to clothes globally.

Some 86% of UK fashion consumers want their clothes to be made ethically and 72% of them sustainably.

Continuously generating mass textile waste (despite small percentages of recycling and repurposing and increasing consumers' awareness of sustainability) is a big problem that both the industry and consumers are facing in 2024\. Wrap estimated that extending the active life of clothing by only nine months could significantly reduce the environmental impact.

We thus propose "upcycling" as the solution to reducing the textile waste problem, and present "Scrap Queen". Scrap Queen is an innovative online marketplace that facilitates the trading of upcycling textile products. Our platform has identified three main categories that attract consumers: 1) Fashion, 2) Interior, and 3) Reusable unwanted textile material.

The platform is open to any individual/company to become a seller/buyer to promote circular fashion/textile economy at the micro and macro levels. Scrap Queen will work with universities across the UK aiming to conduct meaningful R&D and to be market-ready in 2024\.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
