The problem is that single-use cardboard is wasteful and hard to manage. A reusable solution is required that is cost effective and smart in its approach to materials, production, handling and customer experience.

The innovation centres on smart mechanisms and materials combinations to create a collapsible box that can be easily returned and reused to send additional bikes to customers. This will create a circular solution for high-value oversized packaging products.

The project involves design and prototyping expertise and will trial solutions with manufacturing partners.

With over 1.8million bikes sold online in the UK annually, over 4.5million kilogrammes of CO2 can be saved, with over 10million kg of single-use cardboard saved from landfill/burning.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
