This project supports the UK's transition to sustainable, data-driven operations across agriculture, biodiversity monitoring, land management, and critical infrastructure sectors.

The platform tackles the persistent challenge of reliable data collection where power, connectivity, or maintenance access is constrained. Unlike traditional IoT systems relying on fixed sensing schedules and continuous connectivity, AquaVeris devices use intelligent edge computing and embedded AI to dynamically adjust sensing rates, energy consumption, and communication patterns in real time. This enables resilient, autonomous operation in complex, hard-to-reach environments - addressing critical and evolving needs in environmental and infrastructure sectors.

This Growth Catalyst project will deliver the first field-based validation of AquaVeris' alpha hardware, deploying 10 modular sensing units in collaboration with shortlisted UK research partners, potentially including NIAB and ADAS. The pilot generates high-value annotated datasets, validates system stability, and demonstrates autonomous operation under diverse energy conditions. Key activities include early-stage safety planning, detailed dataset capture, and initial regulatory engagement - laying the groundwork for compliance, licensing, and adoption in safety-critical and sustainability-focused sectors.

The pilot is part of a sequenced, multi-stream innovation roadmap. While Growth Catalyst advances early field validation (TRL 4 to 6), complementary streams address subsequent milestones: the Innovation Loan funds system build and patent finalisation; the Agri-Tech Cluster supports scaled biodiversity deployment; the Knowledge Transfer Partnership embeds academic R&D; and other future streams, including construction-sector applications, are explored to extend resource-efficient sensing capabilities. Each stream is costed and structured to ensure clear scope separation and compliance with Innovate UK funding rules to avoid duplication.

AquaVeris' IP portfolio includes a UK provisional patent filed in July 2025, with a US provisional in preparation and an international PCT filing planned for 2026\. The platform's core architecture is rigorously protected by confidentiality protocols safeguarding sensitive mechanisms and unfiled claims. This project supports the IP strategy by delivering pilot-derived evidence critical for licensing and commercialisation without compromising confidentiality.

As a woman-led, IP-generating deep-tech SME, AquaVeris aligns with UK priorities on climate resilience, AI innovation, and equitable economic growth. This pilot represents a pivotal milestone in de-risking commercial partnerships, strengthening future funding prospects, and positioning AquaVeris for responsible scale-up across agriculture, environment, and critical infrastructure sectors, with clear pathways to UK domestic and international markets - creating sustainable innovation that delivers lasting value for the UK and beyond.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
