from strain gauges located in a hole along the axis of the bolt. The device can be
encapsulated thus protecting it from corrosion. The system we term as BOLTED harvests
energy from the tower to energise the system and checks the bolt tension several times a day
and reports the information to a wireless transmitter that then transmits the information to a
condition monitoring system.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
