Routine and repeated spraying of entire crops to control disease, adds cost, affects the environment and leads to increased resistance to treatment. Our idea is to develop a vision technology and analysis software to measure the presence of disease and/or insect infestation. The data can then be used to direct optimised automated spray treatment only as required. Thus, specific plants (even specific sides/areas of plants) can be treated for specific diseases when and only if required. This would significantly reduce the cost of treatment and reduce chemical burden on plants and the land.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
