Extension (ACE).
The ACE is a remotely-operated, hydraulically-powered device that can convert any standard
lorry-mounted hydraulic crane or similar device into a dextrous, manipulative tool so as to
significantly extend the operating capabilities of the supporting machine.
The ACE will be designed to deliver the following capabilities:
• To lift and orientate objects in unusual positions
• To support and supply power to a range of tools for operation in dangerous or
inaccessible locations without or with reduced man access
• To enable the attachment of grabs and tools by a common, quick-release interface so
that one ACE can be used for an infinite variety of tasks
While apparently similar devices exist they either comprise a complete, specially-designed,
single-purpose dextrous crane or attachments that are significantly less versatile than the ACE</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
