This approach is specifically designed to accelerate the flow of private investment into nature's recovery.

The project will deliver ecosystem service benefits through natural flood management and water resilience interventions across the 870km2 Idle river catchment by aggregating both the supply of and demand for nature-based solutions. A strong impact measurement framework together with bundling and stacking of ecosystem services associated with nature-based solutions will boost investor confidence and make nature markets more attractive, creating the foundations for these markets to grow. Modelled interventions will include woodland creation, riparian tree planting, wetland creation and peatland restoration as applicable.

Severn Trent Water will act as System Operator, strategically linking plans to encourage nature-based solutions to improve water resilience and other nature outcomes, which should improve the cost and efficacy of its water services for customers. Zulu Ecosystems will integrate water-based outcomes into its pioneering natural capital assessment capability to rapidly identify priority interventions and deliver projects with landowners.

The project aims to provide a blueprint for how multi-stakeholder nature-based projects can be developed, funded and delivered at catchment-scale to address climate adaptation and reverse biodiversity loss. Findings will be published in a white paper.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
