However, both countries are dependent on the global market for battery raw materials, with China responsible for the refining of 60-70% of lithium and cobalt found in batteries. Such concentration presents a risk to security of supply, while ESG factors are also becoming a growing concern for the EV industry.

Through this collaboration, Altilium and Pioneer aim to address these challenges, by creating a closed-loop model for EV battery recycling, promoting sustainability and resource efficiency and reducing reliance on overseas supply.

This initiative not only addresses the pressing issue of end-of-life EV battery disposal but also pioneers a sustainable approach to battery manufacturing.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
