10046523Valleys Veg Scale UpClosedGrant for R&DInnovate UKValleys Veg is an attempt to kickstart a hi-tech horticultural business in the economically disadvantaged ex-coalmining areas of South Wales. It will produce high-margin crops of healthy microgreens and salad items using Controlled Environment Agriculture ( CEA ) vertical farming methods. Produce is grown indoors without the need for harmful pesticides or chemicals, and growing can continue all year round, even through the winter months when market prices are at their highest. Our ambition is to establish a low-carbon local supply chain to address food security issues, and create local employment opportunities.
