Spirit Healthcare (SH) has developed an award-winning diabetes educational programme called 'EMPOWER'. The EMPOWER course focuses on diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes, setting personal goals and enabling patients to take better manage their type 2 diabetes and reduce their risk of developing long-term health complications.

Prior to Covid-19, EMPOWER was delivered face-to-face in community classes. At the pandemic onset, these classes moved online \[via Zoom\]. In early 2021, SH converted EMPOWER into a virtual learning programme. Videos, animations, educational resources, interactive games and quizzes to test learning were developed and this new 'Digital EMPOWER' programme was successfully launched in May 2021\. It is currently provided by SH to diabetes patients from several NHS Trusts.

**OBJECTIVES**

This feasibility project aids SH building a network of research and innovation partners to facilitate export of 'Digital EMPOWER' to key target markets.

**FOCUS**

* Detailed survey of potential accreditation awarding bodies, requirements, and costs.
* Identifying and engaging market development partners across all key target territories.
* Undertaking a market assessment exercise to guide launching 'Digital EMPOWER' in target regions (e.g., key barriers and market opportunities; prioritising territories).
* Working with external partners to identify key potential customers and ranking these on priority for engagement.
* Gap analysis on capabilities/roles within SH required to support regional launches.

**INNOVATION** 'Digital EMPOWER' is a structured education programmes designed for adults with type 2 diabetes specifically for remote delivery.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
