Our mission is to
empower people through intuitive technology, by developing interfaces that expand the
bandwidth of human-computer interaction.
Over the past year, we have successfully brought our flagship product, the Seaboard GRAND,
to customers around the world, with orders from 34 countries. The Seaboard GRAND is a
new musical instrument that reimagines the piano keyboard as a soft, continuous surface,
applying our proprietary SEA interface, and recently won the product category of the Design
Museum’s Design of the Year award, beating leading international hardware companies such
as Nest and GoPro.
This application seeks funding to develop a pre-production prototype of a new approach to
music making that leverages the unique advantages of the proprietary SEA interface
technology that underpin the Seaboard into an accessible, fun, and easy-to-learn form factor. It
will lower barriers to engagement with music making, and open up a broader market
opportunity for growth.
Our key objectives are: (1) to combine multiple strands of research and development into a
next generation product; (2) to demonstrate leadership through product innovation by
applying our technology to a more broadly applicable form factor; and (3) to begin to build a
bridge towards interaction technologies which will apply beyond the music industry to a range
of mass-market applications.
The project is technically challenging and involves significant technical innovation, and
ROLI’s proven track record of successful multi-disciplinary research and development means
we are well placed to deliver on the promise of this project.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
