Dementia is the leading cause of death in the UK and the seventh globally, with an estimated 139 million people worldwide expected to have it by 2050 (WHO, 2020). Approximately 22% of all persons aged 50 and above have signs of dementia (Gustavsson _et al._, 2023), proving to be a significant and increasing health concern impacting millions of individuals globally (Nichols _et al._, 2019). Current methods for detecting disease relies upon clinical signs and symptoms, which often lag behind actual brain changes (Jack _et al._, 2010), resulting in late detection, thus limiting the effectiveness of available treatments.

Tools and technologies available for the detection of biomarkers of disease remain lacking. Pre-exiting approaches are poorly sensitive and have been unable to offer the degree of precision necessary to transform outcomes in dementia. More effective tools will help develop clinical trials that can more effectively target the disease early, as well as improve our ability to monitor the disease. Additionally, earlier detection enables patients and their families to access support services and engage in advance care planning while patients are still capable.

CFDX is developing an AI-powered technology platform to repurpose advances in early cancer detection into a group of diseases that is the leading cause of death in the UK. CFDX's novel approach will leverage strong industry and research experience alongside world-class AI expertise to create a technology platform to transform the clinical utility of biological markers, and support the larger Dame Barbara Windsor Dementia Mission.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
