10157331West Midlands Innovation Programme 3.0ClosedInvestment AcceleratorInnovate UKThe West Midlands Innovation Programme phase 3 (WMIP 3.0) addresses the **Capability and Capacity** strand of the West Midlands Innovation Accelerator**,** supporting cross-sector, demand-led innovation and enhancing the connectedness and operation of the region's innovation ecosystem. WMIP 3.0 builds on a highly successful phases 1, which independent evaluation found to have effectively _'coordinated development of the innovation support ecosystem'_ and grown _'expertise in innovation in different sectors',_ leading to generation of additional GVA of over £28m, and 2 (evaluation pending) that levered over 150% of its co-investment target. WMIP 3.0 is led and managed by the West Midlands Combined Authority, enabling it to enhance other WM Innovation Accelerator projects and wider regional innovation activity, and constructively interact with further regional growth levers, e.g. cluster leadership, skills, net zero. WMIP 3.0 aligns its activities with Cluster Leadership activities through the work of Cluster Innovation Partners (CIPs), whose role is to identify and address barriers and enablers to innovation across clusters and sectors and bring a strong private sector voice. In WMIP 3.0 a Flexible Innovation Pilot Fund enables the development of novel, collaborative interventions that overcome barriers to and exploit opportunities for demand-led innovation. This work is led by Cluster Innovation Partners and done collaboratively with West Midlands innovation ecosystem stakeholders. WMIP 3.0 will develop 6 innovation pilots, as well as have a stronger focus on supporting 2 successful pilot interventions (from WMIP 1.0, 2.0, or 3.0) to scale within or into additional sectors, to attract investment and accelerate impact. The WMCA Delivery Team and the CIPs collaborate with the West Midlands Innovation Alliance to develop a diverse and inclusive series of thematic working groups and cross-sector events that enable networking, good practice sharing, connections and partnerships around innovation, thus building cross-sector capacity and capability across the WM innovation ecosystem, along with other aligned (but not WMIP funded) stakeholder activity.
