The company provides modular and scalable solutions for industrial steam heat and power, embracing the hydrogen economy to eliminate emissions and replace fossil fuels and engines.

Steamology's team has been working together for a decade on superheated steam engineering, prioritising the development of clean, energy-dense hydrogen and oxygen-fuelled steam for power applications. The closed or open-loop steam system is emission-free, and the combustion of hydrogen and oxygen in Steamology's steam generators creates high-energy steam with zero carbon emissions, no NOx, no SOx, and no particulates in a repeatable cycle.

Steamology's turbines use steam to drive an impulse turbine connected to mechanical and electrical drive applications. The high pressure (40 bar) and high temperature (400&amp;deg;C) superheated steam is passed through a De Laval nozzle that exchanges the steam temperature and pressure for velocity. The two-stage impulse &amp;quot;Curtis Wheel&amp;quot; turbine is driven by the kinetic energy of the steam, which rotates at approximately 9,000 RPM.

Steamology's high torque turbines are compact, robust, reliable, and have few moving parts, making them suitable for static and transport applications in the power range of 250kW - 1MW. The company's innovative hydrogen-based zero-emission steam system is ideal for replacing diesel engines in various transport markets, including passenger and freight rail, marine workboats and crew transfer vessels, 40-tonne road haulage, and non-road mobile machinery.

In this project Steamology is partnering with ASTUTE Centre of Excellence to use the computational fluid dynamic modelling to estimate the nozzle exist velocities and to understand the combustion performance of hydrogen and oxygen inside the patented steam generator. This validation will help Steamology increase its market share in a wider range of diesel engine replacement markets and contribute meaningfully to the UK's net-zero targets.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
