This project will develop our promising TSB supported Proof of Concept technology “Dupl”
for an enhanced 1 to 1 conversation across commercially available platforms, (iPad &
Android), to commercial readiness with potential partners.
Entouch targeted Dupl to meet the need for people to be as close to doing things together
when they're physically apart, not just early adopters, but the late majority.
The technology challenge is for Dupl to be delightful to use, every day, for older later
adopters (for example the teams own mothers!). Having demonstrated this at Proof of Concept
the team now wants to progress beyond closed “Lab tests” with cross-generational use cases 8 -
80 (especially 8 with 80).
“Over 9 million older people could need ‘informal care’ from friends & family in 10 years’
time…communication tools that increase meaningful connections between family & friends,
increasing social interaction & reducing isolation; Social entrepreneurs are at the forefront of
designing new technologies that can improve the informal care market, but they are being
held back by a lack of investment” (NESTA; Who Cares? K.Mountain 2014).
We seek to make both commercial & social impact especially around social wellbeing and
education.
Practical uses & social benefits have been identified for “Dupl”, in an industry sector ripe for
disruption & enhancement. Conversation around areas of mutual interest is engaging, drives
discovery & can lead to commerce. Our opportunity is enhanced by the huge growth of smart
devices, especially Tablets that have a wide demographic profile (OFCOM 2014).
Our mission is to push forward understanding of cross-generational communication and its
societal benefits. Our ambition is that Dupl becomes the world leader for enriching
communication between old & young by leveraging technology as an enabler</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
