Phosphate is a finite natural resource containing phosphorus, an essential nutrient for life development on earth. Humans rely on phosphates in agricultural fertilisers to grow food, globally that equates to 46Mt of phosphate fertiliser a year.

There is an excess of phosphate in our waterways, its well documented and its causing significant environmental damage. 54% of our rivers and 74% of our lakes in the UK failed the phosphorus standards for good ecological status.

Rookwood Operations have a novel patent-pending material which allows for phosphates to be adsorbed from water where they are causing a problem and reused on land where they are required. This circularity is key to brining phosphate levels back toward the planetary boundary.

To support the wide-scale use of the material, a technology solution is required. This grant be used to deliver the software solution to support Rookwood's Material as a Service proposition.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
