They cause extensive suffering and cost the global economy USD $1 trillion each year in lost productivity.

In the UK, 1 in 6 people experience a mental health problem each year, with over 6,000 suicides recorded annually.

Our company, TranQuality, is a spin out from NAViGO Health and Social Care CIC which delivers NHS mental health services to North East Lincolnshire. Through the delivery of our clinical services, we have identified an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that could significantly enhance methods to treat individuals with anxiety and depression.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is recognised by NICE and the FDA as a powerful non-drug, non-invasive procedure that stimulates neurons to reduce or reverse the symptoms of anxiety and depression. However, the high cost of the TMS treatment process prohibits its widespread adoption in the healthcare sector.

TranQuality plans to address the short comings of the current state of the art by augmenting the TMS process with qEEG data and an AI support tool that personalises patient treatment. Personalisation reduces the length and cost of treatment.

Our proposed work is in line with current industry trends and includes:

(1) Finding alternatives to drugs (which may have side-effects and can lead to treatment resistance)

(2) The rise in non-invasive treatments using advanced technologies

(3) The growing interest and call for the use of AI in medicine in the NHS and elsewhere</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
