This first-of-a-kind system will be based on a new student housing project and school in London. Vermicomposting is a relatively unknown technology in the U.K. It produces a rich and complex organic fertilizer that could be used instead of the intensive petrochemicals used today. The Urban Wormery Project sees such systems being the future of food waste recycling - where we recapture lost nutrients and use them to produce more food. This would help London and the U.K. to reduce its carbon footprint and reduce the growing landfill issue.
