decisions by analysing data from off-the-shelf wearable technology technology devices. Our
innovative software platform can already improve the profitability of an investor’s
performance by analysing their previous trading history and identifying behavioural biases
that result in irrational and sub-optimal decisions being taken. However, this approach is
limited in that it only considers past trading activities and does not incorporate the important
emotional, environmental and physiological conditions under which investment decisions
have been taken.
Wearable devices - such as the FitBit and Jawbone’s UP - provide a cheap and convenient way
to collect data on an individual's sleep patterns, exercise levels, heart rate and mood. By
incorporating data from these devices into our analytics, we can introduce a paradigm shift in
the understanding of the decision making process, by bringing together both objective and
subjective data that would normally be considered impossible to fuse together. This will
create an immensely powerful platform that combines knowledge of an individual’s
behavioural traits with their emotional and physical states to help them optimise their own
decision-making process.
Our interactions with hundreds of investment professionals have demonstrated a strong
demand for such a service. We believe that no-one is yet offering such a system due to the
significant complexity of consolidating decision data from highly disparate sources and
drawing out useful and relevant insights.
Beyond financial markets, the technology is applicable to any situation where users make
frequent decisions. This covers business, healthcare and military applications and we plan to
exploit the hugely exciting potential of this technology in each of these sectors.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
