CattleEye have innovated a novel way to gain insights into dairy cows simply by monitoring them with a security camera as they exit a milking parlour and overlaying the power of Artificial Intelligence. The completely hands-free solution will monitor a cow's welfare and performance without the need for wearable devices. An initial product development has demonstrated (via independent University verification) that CattleEye can mobility score dairy cows equal to an expert veterinarian. The new version CowView will advance the product, to enable lesion detection, increase accuracy and offer data so intervention can be timely. Body Condition Score and Rumen Fill modules will ensure dairy cows can be better managed, particularly around calving where up to 50% can experience a disorder.

The objective of this project is to co-develop the CowView module with dairy farmers, veterinarians and other parts of the supply chain. CattleEye will supply the technology insights and developments, whilst receiving feedback from farmers and others, to ensure the correct insights are produced and data is displayed in the app for maximum utilization and value. The CowView version will create new information whereby action can be taken at an earlier timepoint and highlight cows that could benefit from prompt intervention. This will reduce lameness and metabolic disease enabling more cows to live without painful conditions and increasing their lifespan. This novel, actionable data aims to improve welfare and productivity whilst reducing greenhouse (GHG) emissions.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
