Without timely diagnosis and treatment ADHD can impact a child's self-esteem and in the long-term contribute to lower socioeconomic and health outcomes in adulthood, leading to a lifetime cost of £10,400 (Telford et al. 2013). Significant barriers exist in accurately identifying and referring possible cases with waitlists lasting up to 10 years (ITVNews 2023).

To combat this crisis, Peili Vision has developed an innovative screening tool called EFSim Test- the first web triage tool for ADHD that uses a naturalistic environment to detect deficits in executive function in children such as attention, impulsivity and response inhibition, in order to rule out the possibility of ADHD. In this way, Peili Vision intends to:

* reduce the amount of time needed to measure executive function;
* reduce the number of inappropriate referrals to neuro-developmental disorder services;
* reduce waiting times;
* support young people being signposted earlier to more appropriate services; and
* improve the overall experience for patients in this pathway.

This project builds on EFSim Test- VR, a virtual reality version of the screening tool, which has been piloted in Finland and found to have a sensitivity of 88% and a specificity of 92% (Seesjarvi, 2022). However, to support the scalability and increase public access to this assessment, Peili is developing a web version that can be set up on any computer to assess a young person in school or in a GP practice.

Project objectives:

Further development to ensure the application is age appropriate for UK 13-17 year olds

* Gather diverse and geographically representative comparison data across West Yorkshire for data analysis;
* Map the current pathway current state and identify challenges for redesign;
* Test the application in schools and PCNs, co-designing relevant signposting with the settings to support patients post-assessment;
* Work with schools and PCNs to define the requirements needed to integrate data into Electronic Health Records (EHRs), streamlining data collection of need and prevalence, and addressing the current gaps in local, regional and national datasets
* Demonstrate the impact of the application on the pathway, the number of inappropriate referrals, and value for money, outputs that will support future business cases.
* Produce a final report to capture learnings and inform future research and implementation.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
