This device would be highly efficient and ensure the 'feel' of the machine is maintained. This project will focus on a retro-fit device to the popular Concept2 Ergo but will also fit on the BikeErg and SkiErg as they use the same fan technology. Thereby creating a suite of Power Generation exercise machines for gyms, clubs and the home user through a simple retro-fit device.

RowElectric have undertaken extensive feasibility trials and prototyping to test the idea and understand the unique challenges involved with the rowing machines. It is now ready to be developed into a pre-production product that, when complete, would initially be sold as a retrofit for the Concept2 range of exercise machines.

The Power Electronics would output a quality of power such that batteries could be charged directly or via existing MPPT charging circuits. It could also connect into existing grid-tied micro-inverter to power the electricity grid. The arrangement would depend on the user (home, gym, club, etc) and their aims (charge a battery for standby power, reduce building power consumption, etc).</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
