We aim to demonstrate our product can maintain current yields with reduced fertiliser inputs and can be integrated in all agricultural production systems.

Our project focuses on developing an innovative biochar-based amendment for nutrient management in agricultural soil and water environments. Led by Farm Neutral, in collaboration with Harper Adams University, our project will involve the co-pyrolysis of nutrient-rich agricultural and forestry residues with carefully selected materials to capture and retain nutrients within the biochar structure. Consideration will also be given to incorporation of additional biostimulants to enhance nutrient uptake by plants.

Unlike any other biochar products available, our co-pyrolysed biochar can be used in agricultural soils as a nutrient fertiliser, as a tool for transforming legacy phosphorus reserves into bioavailable forms for plant uptake, and deployed in watercourses as a reactive media for recovery of leached nutrients.

This project advances technological boundaries and will enhance end user engagement and shape policy, ensuring robust environmental and economic benefits.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
