As human-centred design specialists, Special Projects (SP) have always designed with the end-user in mind, and increasingly that end-user is concerned about the planet. Human-centred is becoming planet-centred._

_With the Health and Beauty sector's increasingly significant plastic footprint and reliance on water requiring investigation and action, FIN and SP are partnering on The Art of Listening (TAL), a research project designed to understand what consumers want next from ethical and sustainable products and services, and how we can help all consumers access healthy, natural products which replenish nature and rebuild the human-nature relationship. Both partners acknowledge that closed loop packaging and refill solutions will only take the sector so far in terms of limiting impact on planetary resources, and we want to understand what comes next for consumers, what will trigger the behaviour change required and how businesses can help to close the value-action gap._

_The outcomes of this research project are expected to be a roadmap of product and service concepts for FIN to develop further in-house, as well as a case study and set of recommendations about how to develop products and services which are truly sustainable, as all businesses start to work towards the ultimate aim of reaching Net-Zero by 2030, following significant reductions in waste production, carbon production and water use. This content will be promoted by both partners and will be freely available to the public._

_Together TAL project partners will identify new products and services which will disrupt the ethical toiletries sector, challenging the status quo in this sector as well as making recommendations for more sustainable and ethical products and services which can be transferred to other sectors. In this way we hope to disrupt business as usual, and consumption as usual, bringing consumers closer to nature and helping them to rebuild their relationship with it._</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
