10142787Strengthening Cyber Security Skills in LancashireClosedCollaborative R&DInnovate UKBlackburn College's Strengthening Cyber Security Skills in Lancashire project is designed to support the growth in Cyber Security roles within the industry (and this region in particular). It will encourage engagement and aspirations for Cyber Security careers amongst local people, providing them with access to the relevant technologies, skills and opportunities. The Strengthening Cyber Security Skills in Lancashire project will: * Build partnerships employers and stakeholders to co-create Cyber/Digital curriculum model * Addresses identified skills gaps and supports employer needs * Pilot training programmes designed to unlock and develop talent into high-demand cyber roles * Support under-represented groups into the cyber security industry to develop a more diverse workplace demographic * Deliver community events in collaboration with organisations (In4 Group, CGI, One Voice, IMO, Burnley College) to raise awareness amongst parents, adults and businesses of the local career opportunities * Explore the creation of a co-location space for Cyber businesses, academic staff and students to interact and work collaboratively to facilitatework placements/work experience, graduate work opportunities and provide workspace/network opportunities for a range of tech companies including SMEs and start-ups. * Create stronger collaboration between industry, skills, workforce, training and academia to promote economic growth and employment opportunities. Businesses can 'organically grow' their workforce alongside education/training/qualifications which support business needs (including experience, knowledge, skills and behaviours expected by employers) These activities will trial innovative engagement approaches, build on current investment and support the fast-growing cyber ecosystem across Lancashire and the North-West (North West Cyber Corridor)
