Smart IoT for remote pest control</ns2:title><ns2:status>Closed</ns2:status><ns2:grantCategory>Collaborative R&D</ns2:grantCategory><ns2:leadFunder>Innovate UK</ns2:leadFunder><ns2:abstractText>Trojan is a UK-based agrifood SME led by Anton Posunko (CEO), Valentyn Goncharenko (product lead) and Marko Gorodetsky (technical lead and hardware developer).

Pest control is crucial for sectors such as food production, retail and logistics. Despite its growth, with a market value of £20B in 2023 and projected to reach

£26.36B by 2033, the industry faces challenges. The deployment and maintenance of millions of traps and baits require significant labour, posing high human risks and causing billions in losses. Inefficiencies could increase operational costs by billions annually, straining pest control companies and leading to higher service fees and reduced quality. In the long term, these inefficiencies could raise consumer costs, hinder industry growth and impact food supply chains, agriculture and human health.

Trojan is developing an innovative IoT solution that will revolutionise pest control by significantly reducing time and labour costs. The smart multi-catch trap and bait station will automate pest control monitoring, reducing labour costs by over 70%.

This technology will not only benefit pest control technicians by reducing their workload and fuel costs but also have a substantial impact on public health and quality of life by minimising pest-related risks. Trojan's IoT solution provides precise on-site conditions, reduces human errors and enables remote management of technician processes.

This innovation will enhance access to efficient pest control, leading to higher productivity and economic growth in the sector.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
