Despite being the largest generator of all renewables at almost 70%, most hydropower development fails to secure climate finance. Only 2% of private capital for renewables flows to the sector. This is because hydropower developers and operators are failing to provide financiers with compelling financial files, particularly regarding GHG emissions and climate change risks.

Open Hydro is building a platform for hydropower owners and developers to automate our deep-sector knowledge on carbon emissions and climate change impacts at hydropower projects, and plan how to improve hydropower assets' emissions and resilience. In this way, we resolve investors' concerns that delay the approval of files, reduce the time to make these approvals, and this in turn unlocks new energy capacity at existing and planned utilities.

Open Hydro is the much-needed automated solution to ramp up capital flows to hydropower development to meet our 2050 targets.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
