Modern families are capturing more moments than ever: over 1.9 trillion photos and videos are taken globally each year, but only a small fraction are ever meaningfully revisited. In this digital clutter, a vital developmental process is being lost: elaborative reminiscing. This is a style of reflective storytelling between parents and children that helps build emotional literacy, resilience, and mental wellbeing. Without it, children are more vulnerable to anxiety and depression.

Yoree addresses this growing gap by using artificial intelligence to identify and surface emotionally significant family memories. It prompts meaningful dialogue by grouping photos and videos into story-based themes, such as "Times You Were Brave", to help children build positive self-narratives. These kinds of conversations are proven to protect against poor mental health outcomes.

Unlike traditional photo platforms that sort by time or location, or apps focused on sharing with extended family, Yoree is purpose-built for emotional connection. It uses a combination of metadata, facial expression analysis, and machine learning to curate memories in a way that supports child development. The platform also includes a growing library of story prompts to guide parents through these conversations in an age-appropriate, accessible way.

This project will support the development of a fully integrated prototype of the Yoree platform. It will include testing with families to refine the user experience, evaluate emotional utility, and assess the potential to improve mental wellbeing. All work will be delivered in the UK.

Yoree will be available as a low-cost subscription app for parents, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion. The platform is already gaining strong interest, with thousands of parents signed up to the waitlist.

By building emotionally intelligent technology that strengthens family connection and supports early intervention in mental health, Memorify aims to establish the UK as a global leader in responsible, wellbeing-focused AI. The project is aligned to the UK Government's strategic goals around child mental health, digital inclusion, and the development of safe and trusted AI.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
