Our work is cited by the Department for Education as an example of best practice in the UK's National Plan for Music Education. Annually, we work with 18,000 marginalised students and 2,000 teachers across England. There is a huge opportunity for growth in the tailored provision of in-person and remote services for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) students. Not only do SEND students need assistive, adaptive, and responsive approaches to education, but special schools often have more resources with which external providers can be brought in to work with them. Growing demand for our SEND services necessitates tailored, market-ready programmes to enable business growth. In response to this business opportunity, CM will: * Develop and test new music-led STEAM workshops for SEND students: 3 in-person workshops and 3 x 5-lesson follow-up online courses with lesson plans, slides, videos, and parent-aided home activities. * Develop and test new CPD provision aimed at teachers working with SEND students, enhancing their skills in using technology to deliver the National Plan for Music Education, effectively and confidently through tailored music lessons. * Commercialise these three services to generate sustainable income beyond the grant period Innovation is demonstrated by: * CM holds England's only music-led STEAM framework focusing on cross-disciplinarity, combining music, technology, and arts education. This provides an excellent starting point for innovation * We incorporate gamification and interactive elements to engage students, making learning fun and effective. * We employ a hybrid delivery model combining in-person workshops and on-demand online resources, ensuring accessibility and flexibility for diverse educational settings. * Our in-school experience over the last 11 years means we are well-placed to spot gaps in provision. Not only does this allow us to develop better projects which meet students' and teachers' needs, but it allows us to give feedback to the hardware and software manufacturers whose products we use so that they can innovate, producing better instruments and providing students with better, more tailored, learning experiences * Our programmes bring digital technologies such as Touch Me, Makey Makey, Generative AI platforms, and other adaptive musical instruments into classrooms where children often lack technology-based and music-based opportunities.
