720250Development of a Prototype for Consumer Sports Performance Display on Smartphones using Inertial Sensors by Vert Systems LtdClosedGRD Development of PrototypeInnovate UKThe project will develop a prototype for a sports performance monitoring product for the consumer market, based on the integration of a wireless inertial sensor unit with a smartphone app. The details of the user’s motion will be extracted from the sensor data and then displayed by a smartphone app to provide an enhanced user experience with graphical display of performance. The concept is based on the integration of a number of technologies to produce a new and novel product range. The development of sports specific algorithms to process the sensor data will make the product unique and increase the available information for the user. The project will build on the success of the earlier proof of concept, which is demonstrating the key technology and is in the process of filing a patent for the core technology. The prototype will show how this technology could be transformed into a user product, and will lead towards the development of a product range by Vert Systems. The planned new product range that will be developed from this will allow the expansion of Vert Systems including the creation of a number of new jobs. The market for the product is international and so there is considerable export potential from the outcome of the project.
