Disabled people have an unequal share of life choices and opportunities. In the UK, 44.3% of working-age-disabled people are economically inactive, which is nearly four times higher than non-disabled people's rate of 11.5%. (Charles Freeman and Becki Morris)

Workplaces are recognising the importance of diversity and inclusion, with a focus on neurodiversity and social mobility.

We aim to establish a digital academy in the metaverse for disadvantaged, neurodiverse and disabled artists to connect, collaborate and learn. The digital space will facilitate the exposure of enabling technologies and the development of disabled led productions and stories. We will be looking at why and how 'TechPoverty' impacts opportunity and excludes socioeconomically disadvantaged, neurodiverse and disabled people.

A University of Manchester study on socio-economic status of the U.K population revealed that 'there has been no change in the underlying pattern of relative mobility into creative jobs. The chances of getting into creative work are profoundly unequal in class terms' (Brook et al, 2022).</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
