Patients require drainage catheters for the removal of abnormal fluids. They are connected to bags that can hold up to 1kg of liquid, making it vital that the catheter is secured effectively. If they are dislodged, this can lead to pain, organ damage, reinsertion, and extra healthcare costs. Available securement devices do not offer broad protection against dislodgement. Annually, approximately 15% of catheters are displaced, leading to 7.9K reinsertions and costing over &amp;pound;10M. Devices in current use must be replaced weekly and inhibit patients from showering comfortably.

Fixit is developing a best-in-class patient-centric catheter fixing/securement device that comprises a housing adhered to the patient's skin. To prevent pulls on the drainage bag from moving the catheter, pull forces will be transmitted to the skin only. The adhesive base will last 14 days, compared to seven days for current devices.

Cingo will reduce catheter dislodgement rates from ˜15% to negligible and save the UK Healthcare Sector ˜&amp;pound;11.8M/year. It will reduce the need for repeat surgeries, thereby increasing UK Healthcare Sector capacity which in turn will allow more patients to be seen. Cingo will improve outcomes for all patients in the

UK who have an in-dwelling percutaneous drainage catheter and reduce patient morbidity in the UK Healthcare Sector.

Cingo will offer unrivalled catheter protection, easily tolerating pull forces of up to 5kg (compared to 0.7kg), Cingo also provides easy access to the drainage tube exit site for cleaning without the need for additional dressings saving time and money and allows for effortless showering for patients without worrying about getting the wound wet.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
