Fast emergency response is crucial, but about half of all cases are unwitnessed (51%), meaning we need better solutions for both detecting cardiac arrest earlier and reaching out to emergency services for help.

Currently, ambulance services try to resuscitate 30,000 cardiac arrests per year in the UK, but only 9% survive overall. Most arrests happen at home when people are alone and unmonitored. For every minute spent without cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the victims chance of survival reduces by 7-10%. Our innovation aims to improve these chances of survival by earlier detection and by alerting emergency services automatically.

To address this challenge, Your-Cue is developing a wearable medical device prototype to automatically detect abnormal cardiac activity and notify emergency services. Built-in internet connectivity and GPS will automatically alert emergency services and provide the person's location along with their live vital stats. Your-Cue's solution is lightweight, wireless and meant to be worn on a person's finger. It is also rechargeable and will be the first of its kind to automate an emergency service callout. The technology is specifically designed to monitor people of any and all ethnic backgrounds efficiently. Our system will continuously monitor adults over 40 who are at risk, opening doors for even unwitnessed events to be able to receive help. Such a technology promises major lifesaving benefits by removing the middle man and luck, often needed to engage emergency services for the affected.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
