Hidden will premiere at Warwick Arts Centre in February 2025, then tour extensively in the UK and internationally until mid-2028\. Through experimentation to push the boundaries of digital projection mapping, this 4-month R&D project will support Motionhouse to further harness the power of technology to create immersive worlds on stage in live performance. The project is ambitious, with the aim of achieving something that has never before been realised in a touring production, projecting onto 12 screens, 10 of which will move in the space while being projected on. This innovation completely reframes and transforms the use of stage sets. In Hidden, the 12 screens become the set for the show, functioning like sets, but with the ability to create endless possibilities of onstage worlds, transforming the environment in the blink of an eye.

This exploration into how technology can be used in Hidden will reveal new ways to integrate digital into live performance, adding new depths to the company's work and unleashing the potential for further evolution in subsequent work, and in the sector. Building on Motionhouse's major investment in 2022 into specialist servers from Disguise, the project will support Motionhouse to increase its income through touring, while the use of Disguise's Previz software will create a virtual production process, streamlining workflows by enabling the cloud-based previsualisation of digital content in a 3D digital world, supporting remote real-time collaboration with our content creators/AV specialist on Hidden's digital content, creating the flexibility to test ideas before spending time developing them in the real world. This will cut costs by creating time efficiencies and help support the company's environmental goals by reducing travel.

The size of the opportunity for Motionhouse is significant, enabling the company to make a show that will lever ~£500,000 additional income over 5 years. With support from IUK, this investment for experimentation will help Motionhouse create an incredible new production featuring never-seen-before 3D worlds on stage, to tour to venues across the UK reaching diverse audiences.

Importantly, the project will help place the UK at the cutting edge of digital innovation in live performance and feed into the Warwickshire/Coventry Immersive Cluster, opening up potential for future partnerships to develop and share ideas, leading to innovation capability.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
