The current options for parents are buying new organic clothes (unaffordable), buying fast fashion (unsustainable), or shopping second-hand (time-consuming). Our rental service, Borro, allows parents to rent high quality organic clothes for their children with the affordability and convenience of fast fashion, but without the cost to the planet. To make rental as seamless as online shopping for our pioneering parents requires a lot of work behind the scenes. This project with Innovate UK will allow Borro to develop custom new technology to scale our innovative rental offering, ensuring our operations run efficiently. This new technology will allow us to track every item in our inventory -- producing rich data about how often items are rented out, stained, or damaged beyond repair. Not only will this data help us build a more impactful business, we can also use it to feed back to the brands we stock -- ensuring they can design for circularity, creating longer-lasting, more sustainable clothes which are better for kids, parents and the planet. The project also includes building new customer-facing technology -- a subscription portal to help more parents manage their rentals seamlessly, and an AI chatbot to provide personalised shopping assistance. This technology will ensure that we are truly making rental an _easy_, as well as sustainable, option for busy parents.
