**CHALLENGE: Rising Healthcare Costs**

The UK population is increasing and getting older, causing ever-increasing demand on the NHS. By 2033/34, healthcare costs will climb to at least 9.9% of national income. There's a pressing **need to reduce UK healthcare costs**. Medication **non-adherence** accounts for **50% of treatment failures** and up to **25% of hospitalisations** each year. Studies show that **50-60% of patients** with chronic illnesses **miss doses**, take the **wrong doses**, or **drop off treatment** in the first year.

**SOLUTION: RAPIDE**

Project RAPIDE addresses directly the challenge of improving medication adherence. Building on Animo's experience of direct engagement at the confluence of user research, AI and healthcare, during this 6-month project the research team will create and validate a novel web-based toolset to:

* **Enable** technology companies to accurately understand unmet market demand of patients;
* **Increase** opportunities for participation with lower costs of user research;
* **Empower** smaller organisations with rapid design capability, resulting in a more robust competitive environment and improved products/services.

**PROJECT PLAN**

The Project Team has all the necessary resources required to successfully deliver the project, as follows:

* **At project start and preparation**, Month 1, the research team will secure all required permissions and recruit participants.
* **Following initial set-up**, Months 2-5, the study will run, with technical and project management support provided by Inavya.
* **Upon study completion**, Month 6, study results will be analysed leading to Final Report and Sustainability Report.
* **Throughout** (steps 1-3 above), knowledge transfer and dissemination to encourage public and patient involvement.

**SUSTAINABILITY**

During the study, the **RAPIDE** toolset will be developed to enable user research leading to **self-directed, decentralised healthcare**. Upon project completion, the RAPIDE toolset will be sold globally as a **web-based commercial offer** - empowering organisations to create innovations and respond to market demand for personalised healthcare. **Small companies** will be **empowered** to develop and deliver highly cost-effective healthcare innovations - which may span education, personal finance, manufacturing and government - using our robust design-led research methodology. Inavya (our subcontractor) will serve as **demonstrator** and initial **channel-to-market** across the UK (NHS), LatAm, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Good user research is good business. With RAPIDE, high-quality user research will now be **accessible to many at low** **cost**.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
