Classifiers that automatically identify and grade illegal and borderline-illegal material are available. However, where ISP's, hosting platforms or device manufacturers are unable or unwilling to deploy content filters the process for detecting, blocking and removing harmful content falls to law enforcement.

Making life harder for the creators and distributors of harmful content requires new ideas for the moderation of link sharing. This includes finding ways to rapidly and accurately assess a given link to determine whether its intent is the distribution of harmful and illegal material.

The LinkForensics project will develop innovative methods for evaluating the target content and intent of shared links to generate a risk-based and actionable assessment that can be deployed in a range of operational contexts.</ns2:abstractText></ns2:project>
