10136435Green WingClosedGrant for R&DInnovate UK_Green Wing_ was conceived in 2022 to help solve a problem that we, as TV company owners and factual programme makers, faced: how can we make the mandatory environmental sustainability certification process, run by BAFTA albert (the screen industry's leading organisation for environmental sustainability) easier, cheaper and more accurate? How can we stop it from being a time-consuming tick box exercise, often completed at the end of a production by one or two members of staff, and instead weave sustainability practice throughout the production via the _whole_ production team? And with no current verification system in place, how can we make the wider data collection more accurate and create an industry benchmark from which we can track progress and set meaningful net-zero targets? Our answer is _Green Wing_ - an innovative web and mobile app that facilitates easy, accurate and affordable carbon reporting, and helps to calculate a TV production's true environmental impact It streamlines the carbon footprint collection process by using date, time and geospatial meta-data to capture and verify emissions evidence in _real-time_, leading to an unprecedented level of accuracy and providing a robust industry baseline. It's used by _all_ members of the production, promoting shared responsibility and behavioural change. It reduces labour costs and by offering alternative environmental solutions _throughout_ the production, it helps to create greener productions and reduce the industry's sizeable carbon footprint.
